Greetings!  We’ve opened up a test shard named “Test Oceania” to test server performance on our new hardware located regionally in Australia.  We invite you to join us in this test.  The shard has a recent Oceania shard backup on it as well as test center rules.  Any time played on this shard is only for testing purposes and will not affect your actual Oceania characters.  Thank you for your time and we value your assistance.

UO Myth Buster – “Player are able to transfer characters and items from Test Center.”

UO News

Greetings,

We would like to bust a recent myth about transfers from Test Center.

There are two shard types that players may not transfer “from” or “to”: Siege and Test Centers.

Character transfer is not enabled for these shard types, nor will it be implemented.

So why are you seeing strange hues on some pets? During the recent updates and patches to the game, some content we made available for testing, made its way onto production shards. We identified the problem immediately and put in a fix during maintenance to prohibit more “illegal” hues to make their way into the game.  In addition, all changes were reverted … but not before some content made its way onto live shards.

Right now we have monitoring in place to identify what items and hues were available before the update, and which were made available to those who took the opportunity to exploit the changes.

Know that for those who have taken the opportunity to exploit, those hues will also be reverted to their original state.

Virtuebane towered over those who had followed him devoutly, his Bane Chosen, as he stood in front of them where they had assembled. They looked to him anxiously and eagerly awaiting his latest commands, curious as to the reason they had all been summoned here. Virtuebane spoke to the gathered in a voice that commanded their full attention, and all other chatter was silenced in a moment.

“Our time is at hand, my chosen! The Britannian’s leader, Queen Dawn, has fallen! They are losing morale, and soon will lose everything! I have promised you all that your faith and your devotion would be rewarded. Are you ready to follow me in this final step towards our victory?”

A resounding chorus of cheers and assent rippled through the vast army of Bane Chosen, the dragon riders rearing their ferocious mounts back on two legs while the hound masters commanded their pets to let out a harmonious howl. The clamor of metal on metal rang through the air as warriors and recruits smacked their weapons along their shields. Virtuebane’s face adopted as wide a grin as his inhuman features would allow.

“You have all been chosen, and your loyalty will now be rewarded! You will serve me in a greater capacity than you could ever have imagined.”

With that, Virtuebane extended his hands and gestured towards his army. At first, it seemed that nothing was happening, but then a change began to take place. Rank after rank of the Bane Chosen found their bodies pulsating with power, their forms seeming to shimmer. Then in a moment of dazzling brilliance, what had been an army of dragon riders, recruits, and hound masters had transformed. Before Virtuebane now stood a vast swath of new troops, completely loyal to their master. Virtuebane gestured with a hand, and the horde of ancient hellhounds all rang out in one voice together. With this task complete, he stalked away to finish his preparations.

We currently have a copy of Great Lakes on Test Center 1. Hopefully this will make it a little easier to test what we have done in Maginica with the lotto.

Magincia Plot Lotto
  • There are 22 lots each in both Trammel and Felucca. The island is divided up by North and South end. The North end is the area towards the beach area and these plots are 10K per ticket and you are allowed to buy one ticket per account per plot. The South end is towards the bank and these are 2K a ticket and there are no ticket purchase limits.
Magincia Planting System
  • Players are able to plant seeds in grassy areas around Magincia by using a hoe. The players will have to maintain the upkeep of the seeds to keep them healthy. Only the owner of the seed can take care of the plant . The plant will be tagged with the owners name and the date he/she planted it. Players will be able to dig up the plants after they have matured and they will continue to keep the player’s name, the date planted and the date harvested. Players can use the blue crystals to magically advance the growth of a plant in Magincia. You will be able to find 2 Gardeners that will see the hoes needed to plant seeds in Magincia.
Abyss Quest and Monsters
  • Added a new quest in the Abyss, this quest will start with Xeninfor the Security Advisor and he can be found in the Royal Palace. We have also added a few new mobs to challenge your fighting talents.

Magincia in Extended Internal Test

Greetings,

While the preparation for the launch of Pub70 on the test center are in full swing, our testing on the changes to the Magincia map require one more day of review. Pub 70 will be available on Test Center this Thursday, March 17.

The client patch of Pub70 requires a maintenance. Therefore on Thursday, beginning at 3:00 pm EDT we will bring down all shards. At the moment we expect all shards to be back online no later than 5:00 pm EDT.

Please be aware that Pub70 will allow you to select a starting location when you create a new character. This feature will be part of the client patch but also requires a server publish to work – you will already see the window asking you to select your starting location, but your new character will always start in Haven until the publish reaches your shard.

As an additional note, we have added a utilization for the blue crystals so many players have asked about. They WILL have a use in the growth of Magincia.

Pub 70 Delayed to go Live

Originally posted 14 Mar 2011 22:10:16 EST by Calvin Crowner on the UO Herald:

Greetings,

We will be bringing build 70 to the test center on Wednesday March 16th. As always, we ask that you participate in this test phase and give us your feedback.

However, in light of the events in Japan we will be extending the Test Center phase of this publication. Publish 70 is the end of the live event and the new beginning of Magincia and we want all players to have a chance to participate; and we recognize that there may be many members of our Japanese community who may be unable to participate at this time.

So here is our current release plan for build 70: Test Center Deployment: 03/16. Our expectation is that we will publish to Origin in around 2 weeks.  Of course, as events change, we will keep all of the community updated.

We will be putting a back up of Great Lakes on Test Center 1. We hope this encourages you to log in and discover for yourself how the lotto system on Magincia works. In addition to the house plot lotto please enjoy the new system of planting seeds and watching your plants group in the open land of Magincia.

Thank you for your understanding. We are looking forward to getting your feedback and please join us when we say that the hearts and thoughts of our team go out to our Japanese friends.
