Today begins the next chapter in our Live story arc and we are excited to tell you about it.
This event is going to begin when your character visits Captain Avery who is taking a little R&R
at the Cat’s Lair in Britain. He has many stories to tell about his time in prison and you might
get him to tell you a bit about the lost treasures of Ricardo! This isn’t the “contract” style quest
that we did in the last event, just chat him up and he will give you hints about what to do.

If you begin hunting the lost treasures of Ricardo, you will find yourself at the beginning of a
dangerous journey to the remote parts of Sosaria, searching for a most precious and expensive
treasure… information. This information can be reported to Queen Dawn by way of Lieutenant
Dan in Britain, (Trammel) or the sinister forces of Minax by way of Lieutenant Crag in Cove
(Trammel or Felucca). (On Siege, Lt. Dan is in Serpents Hold). Each has a chest that gives
random prizes. Each chest has a bunch of random items and a few unique items that you
win randomly. The special items in Lt. Dan’s chest are new to this event. Crag has stolen the
special items from the last event and has put them in his chest.

There are 10 locations (The location that Avery tells you about can’t be turned in for a prize…
everyone knows that one! There are 10 OTHER locations!). If you visit Ricardo in prison you
will hear him rambling hints to the locations of his hidden treasures. Each day a new hint will
unlock! You may get credit for each location once per character. You may only turn in each
location once, either to Lt. Dan or Lt. Crag. In this quest you must choose if you ally yourself
with Queen Dawn or the dark sorceress Minax! Just read the book at the location, then speak
with one of the Lieutenants.

If you happen to be out of town this week, don’t worry, this event will be available more than
10 days, but don’t dilly-dally too long, it won’t last forever! The fate of Sosaria is in your hands.
Happy hunting and y’all have fun!

There will be several other items in this note, however if none of the above appeal to you, please do not read further.

Greetings!

We have been working hard on making some major updates to the Factions system, and we are now commencing public testing of these changes. They represent some significant changes to the Factions system. As such, we feel it is important to do extensive public testing and gather as much feedback as we can.

Later this afternoon we will open a Test Server named “Factions”. You are invited to jump in and playtest this early version of Factions system changes, which include new fortresses, an updated score and ranking system, and in-game leaderboards.

Details of the test have been posted on the Stratics forums here: http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=194079. The Factions test server is scheduled to open at 3:00 PM ETD on 14 April 2010.

We hope to see you there!

This is a continuation of Lost and Found Part 1

Captain Avery stood before Queen Dawn at attention, even though with Lord Francesco dead he wasn’t technically a member of any militia.   Old habits from old identities die hard, thought Sherry.

A few moments earlier, Captain Avery had entered the chamber and found Queen Dawn and Dexter the Mage in an animated debate.  He didn’t seem to notice Sherry the mouse, with whom they had also been speaking, because she was under the edge of the sofa by one of the legs.  All three of them had stood as he entered the room; their shame in his presence was palpable.

“Oh, I’m sorry to interrupt, your highness.  I will come back later.”

“Please come in.  We are discussing something that concerns you.” said Dawn, almost apologetically.

“Yes, your highness.” And thus he had sprung to attention.

“At ease, Captain.” Dawn’s usual verve was returning and she smirked.  “This isn’t an inspection.”  She extended her hand to him to welcome him.  Avery stepped forward, took her hand and bowed until his forehead touched the back of it.  Well, at least he managed not to salute her again, Sherry thought.

The queen blushed at his gallant, if awkward, gesture.  “I trust that your accommodations here at the castle have been acceptable?” she fumbled.

“Yes your highness, it is far above what I am accustomed to.”  Avery said with a pleasant smile.  He quickly added, “I meant to refer to when I was living in the barracks of Lord Francesco, of course.”

Wow, thought Sherry, Now I bet Dawn and Dexter wish they were hiding under the sofa….  Avery is truly a remarkable man to resist bitterness after so much hardship, Sherry thought to herself.

As Dawn was about to step into the receiving chamber, she paused in front of the mirror near the door and tucked a ringlet of her brown hair back into place.  It defiantly popped free again.  Dawn clenched her lips and shook her head slowly.

How did I ever end up playing the part of queen? she thought to herself as she examined her appearance in the mirror.  I am a warrior, a third-generation royal guard.  I have fought orcs and ophidians and demons and giant, mutant plants and all sorts of monsters… and now it seems I must face tea parties with potentates and dignitaries.  I am unsure which is more likely to kill me.
