Log of the Fortieth Governors' Council 10/17/16

Post by Lord DaKaren » Tue Nov 15, 2016 4:07 pm

King Blackthorn: Welcome governors and citizens to this month's Council meeting.
King Blackthorn: *nods hello to everyone*
Tanda: Hello Your Grace
King Blackthorn: We have a lengthy agenda for this meeting, so let's get started.
King Blackthorn: If a governor will not be able to attend a meeting of the Council,
King Blackthorn: Contact my secretaries (Elizabella@uoem.net and Malachi@uoem.net.)
King Blackthorn: If you would like to make a request for assistance with an event,
King Blackthorn: it should be sent to Lord Naniwa (pec.naniwa@gmail.com).
King Blackthorn: He has a cottage with a mailbox in northwest Britain, near the North Side Inn.
King Blackthorn: I see that several governors were unable to be here tonight.
King Blackthorn: Would anyone like to speak for one of their towns this evening?
King Blackthorn: Now I invite each governor to give a State of the Town status report,
King Blackthorn: With each governor yielding the floor to the next in line.
King Blackthorn: We will start from Moonglow this meeting. Governor Kittie, you have the floor.
King Blackthorn: Maybe we should start with Yew this evening.
Kittie: Thank you, Your Grace.
King Blackthorn: *smiles*
Kittie: *shuffles her notes* Moonglow is faring quite well. The citizens are happy, business is booming and we continue to hold archery contests and net tosses to continue to keep the community thriving.
Kittie: Other than that, Your Majesty, I have nothing else to report. *smiles* I yield the floor to Governor Willa of Yew.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Oh Thank you Lady Kittie, Your Grace...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Yew has fared well and is doing fine. Things are quiet though I am beginning to think that something has happened to the Militia.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: They have not been seen in some time.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Not sure what is wrong.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: But I hope that is resolved.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Other than that things seem well calm...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I am happy to say harvests have gone well.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I yield to Lady Tanda...
Tanda: Thank you Governor, Your Majesty, Minoc did well in the raid against the demons.
Tanda: The family of young Alexander Montgomery of the Minoc Mining company
Tanda: were quite happy with the turn out many came out
Tanda: to show their support of this family it was very touching
Tanda: I have it on good authority that this All Hallows Eve will also bring some interesting
Tanda: visitors to our land around the auction house
Tanda: Oct 27th
Tanda: should be an interesting evening
Tanda: Other than that the coffers are holding their own
Tanda: and growing
Tanda: Citizens seem to be learning to adapt to my new policy
Dr Jerred DeSule: *tilts head*
Tanda: of having Minoc open to many races so long as their lawful
Tanda: That is all, I yield the floor to Governor Warner
Dot Warner: Thank you, Governor Knighthawke. Thank you, Your Majesty.
Dot Warner: Britain's trade has leveled off a bit, though that is typical of the Autumn months.
Dot Warner: There's a bit of public pushback on Minister Grey's warning about the eastern river...
Dot Warner: Fortunately, most people have stayed away for fear of being pulled under.
Dot Warner: A few of the merchants have donated gold and trinkets to be buried in the sands of Brittany Bay's beaches in an effort to lure diehard 'larkers away from the rivers.
Dot Warner: I hope that the redcap and grindylow creatures will be dealt with quickly.
Dot Warner: That is all I have. Thank you, Your Majesty.
King Blackthorn: Thank you to all the governors for keeping me informed about your towns and cities.
King Blackthorn: Our Minister of Security, Magnus Grey, shall now address the Council.
Magnus Grey: Your majesty. Governors.
Magnus Grey: The Ministry of Security has resolved the issue in the Ethereal Void.
Magnus Grey: The daemon AtoGau the Worldeater was destroyed, and Balema was saved.
Magnus Grey: Unfortunately, the Dark Unknown used the situation to steal several relics from our vault.
Magnus Grey: I have the list with me and will be giving a written copy to Britannian Security tomorrow.
Magnus Grey: I can share this with you if you wish.
Magnus Grey: We are dealing with a new threat on Britain's waterways and on the road south.
Magnus Grey: The problem concerns an unfamiliar type of monster or evil spirit.
Magnus Grey: They were summoned by a rogue noble named William,
Kittie: *frowns deeply and bows her head*
Magnus Grey: But the creatures have since betrayed him and are still loose on the world.
Magnus Grey: Currently, the River's Gate Bridge is closed to avoid more deaths.
Magnus Grey: The Royal Guard will be looking into the situation more.
Magnus Grey: And hopefully, our waterways and roads will be safer in the coming weeks.
Magnus Grey: Margaret Korbel confirmed that the diplomatic meeting will take place in November.
Magnus Grey: The city of Luna was chosen by you all as the site of the signing and state visit.
Magnus Grey: She had a question about what celebratory event she should schedule to hold.
Magnus Grey: Her suggestions were a royal tour of several important locations...
Magnus Grey: Or a cultural fair held in Luna.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I have faith in your leadership that you will resolve this horrible issue in Britain and return the items to the Vault Magnus.
Magnus Grey: She has asked for your suggestions tonight if possible.
Magnus Grey: The Ministry will need to provide protections to the royals and diplomats during this.
Magnus Grey: I assume you have questions on the vault.
Magnus Grey: *takes out a list*
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I do.
Magnus Grey: Shall we cover that first or Korbel's request?
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I have many concerns about what might happen if these items are used against us.
Magnus Grey: It took us some time to identify exactly what was taken.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: While I think on Korbel’s request...
Magnus Grey: Since several items were smashed to cover what was actually taken.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I would like to know what was lost.
Magnus Grey: *reads from list*
Magnus Grey: Several unidentified daemonic artifacts (3) from before my tenure as Spymaster:
Magnus Grey: The Doskar Whistle
Magnus Grey: The Wanderer's Jawbone
Magnus Grey: The Mark of Hythloth
Magnus Grey: From my time as Spymaster:
Magnus Grey: Original Pages from the Principia Daemonis (5)
Magnus Grey: Translation and Notes of the Principia Daemonis by Lycaeum
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Oh dear...
Magnus Grey: Alorik's Crystal Ball
Magnus Grey: Stone Hammer of Devastation (Formerly the Heart of Earth)
Magnus Grey: Breath of Air
Kittie: *cants her head*
Magnus Grey: Tear of the Seas
Martyna Z'muir: Oh...dear...
John: *blurts it out* the blood feud is on again.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Oh these are not good...
John: Apologies for speaking out of turn.
Magnus Grey: The smashed artifacts were minor relics and have no value in their smashed state.
Magnus Grey: It is possible, John.
Martyna Z'muir: Someone wants to free the Titans.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: This is not good at all...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: That's all we need...
Magnus Grey: If I get more information on the artifacts' recovery, I will let you know.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Are they not still frozen near Compassion in Illshenar?
Magnus Grey: Most of my Ilshenar scouts have been sent to help in Eodon.
Magnus Grey: My reports are a few months out of date...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Perhaps we should send some guards there and maybe think of putting up some sort of barrier.
Magnus Grey: I will see about sending someone.
Magnus Grey: Though if any members of the Ministry of Security wish to investigate on their own,
Magnus Grey: It would be appreciated.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I wish I knew some...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: But with my Militia missing...
Magnus Grey: *nods*
Magnus Grey: Every force in Britannia is stretched pretty thin these days sadly.
Magnus Grey: Too many fronts...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Indeed these are very bad times...
Dot Warner: We may have to pull back some in Eodon...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: And with the uproar at Graveyards and crazy killer pumpkins...
Dot Warner: We can't help them much if we get overrun in our own lands.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Seems the lands are in some sort of upheaval....
Magnus Grey: Interesting times as always...
Magnus Grey: I will try to have more information on the Eodon situation as well next meeting.
Tanda: *raises hand*
Magnus Grey: Yes, Tanda?
Tanda: On the Celebration, M'lady Korbel is looking to host dignitaries etc correct?
Magnus Grey: It is likely that they will be staying in Luna for the signing and final talks.
Magnus Grey: Though likely our diplomatic office will be responsible for hosting the event.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: As for Korbel... if we are planning a festival of sorts... everyone enjoys games and such like archery contests, summoning contests... contests of skill...
Willa of the Yew-Wood: and bravery... perhaps a maze?
Tanda: I'm just wondering how we'd help defend them
Willa of the Yew-Wood: And something for the crafters to show their skills?
Tanda: in each setting
Magnus Grey: The security issues are indeed imperfect.
Magnus Grey: If we were to show them to even a few locations, we'd have to send enough of the Guard...
Magnus Grey: To keep them safe.
Tanda: But the locations could be random
Tanda: and the order secret
Magnus Grey: Their line of succession is a bit bloodier than ours if history is any indication.
Tanda: Minoc would prefer a tour
Magnus Grey: There is sense in that idea, Tanda.
Tanda: over being trapped in a walled city
Magnus Grey: A festival also has security issues, so I see your point.
Tanda: *looks to other Governors*
Magnus Grey: Would it make sense to do an informal vote on the matter?
Tanda: I would hope for additional input
Tanda: *nudges Dot*
Dot Warner: A tour would probably be the most entertaining.
Dr Jerred DeSule: Although I am just a citizen here, I am in favor of a tour. Better for them to see Britannia.
Magnus Grey: So two votes for the tour, and one for the fair?
Kittie: I vote tour. *smiles*
Magnus Grey: Any other opinions?
Kittie: *raises her hand*
Magnus Grey: I will let Korbel know. Yes, Kittie?
Willa of the Yew-Wood: So for this fare would it be near Luna then?
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Something nice?
Kittie: If the fair is in Luna, does that mean there will be many decorations put up for it?
Kittie: To signify a fair?
Magnus Grey: I don't know the exact arrangements, but there would likely be something, yes.
Kittie: Hmmm..
Kittie: I think I'm going to change my vote then. *smiles*
Kittie: I'm all for fun and decorations!
Magnus Grey: Two to two.
Kittie: Perhaps His Grace would like to weigh in his vote?
King Blackthorn: *considers*
Willa of the Yew-Wood: To me I'd rather they weren't looking at some of our vital buildings and thinking about attacking us... I’d rather show them a good time.
King Blackthorn: It seems that we will need somewhere celebratory for the signing...
King Blackthorn: So if that is going to be setup anyway, it makes sense to have a faire.
Kittie: *nods* Welcoming with open arms and a display of festivities might be in favor.
King Blackthorn: Though the tour did sound fun, but I shall vote for the faire.
Magnus Grey: Very well. I will pass on the message.
Tanda: *smiles*
Magnus Grey: Any other questions on our security?
Magnus Grey: Thank you for your time.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: A fair sounds like just the thing we need to bring people together for something fun and take minds off worry for a moment.
Tanda: Blessed Be Sir Magnus
King Blackthorn: My thanks to Minister Grey.
King Blackthorn: Now I shall respond to the State of the Towns.
King Blackthorn: Governor Knighthawke, what a sorrowful time for the Montgomery family.
King Blackthorn: It is heartwarming to hear that their friends and neighbors gathered around in their time of need.
King Blackthorn: On a happier note, the All Hallows Eve auction sounds quite intriguing.
King Blackthorn: That is a good policy. Diversity makes a town stronger and more flexible.
King Blackthorn: Governor Warner, luring the mudlarks away from the dangerous river is a very good idea.
King Blackthorn: I congratulate you on your city's pragmatism.
King Blackthorn: Commander Kincade and Minister Grey are working hard to solve the Redcap problem.
Dot Warner: *Smiles*
King Blackthorn: *looks at notes*
King Blackthorn: Governor Kittie, I am glad to hear that my city of mages is prospering.
Kittie: *smiles brightly*
King Blackthorn: The net tosses and archery contests sound delightful.
Dr Jerred DeSule: *peers suspiciously at Marlon*
Kittie: *beaming*
King Blackthorn: Governor Willa, it is good to hear that Britannia's breadbasket had a bountiful harvest.
King Blackthorn: However, that is worrying news about the Militia.
King Blackthorn: I hope that they are well. I trust that you will keep us informed.
Kittie: *shudders at the healer standing behind her, looking over her shoulder*
King Blackthorn: That is rather unusual. Almost like a vulture, waiting.
King Blackthorn: *stares at the healer*
Kittie: *nods nervously* It's... kind of creepy your Majesty.
King Blackthorn: Marlon, your services are not needed at this time.
King Blackthorn: Huh, how strange.
King Blackthorn: Still, one should not interrupt a healer practicing their calling.
King Blackthorn: *looks back at his notes*
King Blackthorn: Now we turn to requests from governors.
King Blackthorn: There weren't any this month, except those ably handled by Lord Naniwa. My thanks to him.
King Blackthorn: Now we shall open the floor to new issues.
King Blackthorn: Governors may present any new issues first.
King Blackthorn: Now citizens may present new issues.
Dr Jerred DeSule: *lifts hand*
King Blackthorn: Come forward, Dr DeSule
Dr Jerred DeSule: *consults pocket watch*
Dr Jerred DeSule: Thank you, your majesty. I will attempt to be brief.
Dr Jerred DeSule: I have recently met a rather unusual ogre named Ordnok.
Dr Jerred DeSule: He has expressed a desire to change his ways after his tribe committed the murder
Dr Jerred DeSule: and eating of young human children.
Dr Jerred DeSule: I have already introduced him to some independent organizations,
Dr Jerred DeSule: But wished to formally request amnesty for him by this council.
Dr Jerred DeSule: I can bring him forward if you'd like, although in the interest of time, I would understand
Dr Jerred DeSule: if you need to think about this between meetings.
King Blackthorn: *considers*
King Blackthorn: Bring him forward and let him state his case.
Dr Jerred DeSule: And admittedly, I am not sure where Britannian law stands on this.
Dr Jerred DeSule: *nods*
Dr Jerred DeSule: Please excuse me a moment.
King Blackthorn: *nods*
King Blackthorn: *stares at Marlon*
Tanda: He is most intent
Dot Warner: He's creepy.
Tanda: Maybe he's never seen a walking cat
Ordnok: *looks around nervously*
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Hum...
Dr Jerred DeSule: Please proceed, Ordnok.
King Blackthorn: Ah, the ogre is here.
Ordnok: Urk.
Dot Warner: Meer aren't that rare though...
Tanda: *smiles*
King Blackthorn: Please state your case, Ordnok
Dot Warner: *waves to Ordnok*
Ordnok: Ordnok greet umies

Ordnok: Not sure if Ordnok welcome in umie lands.

Ordnok: Sitzen?
Dr Jerred DeSule: Citizen.
Ordnok: Dat.
King Blackthorn: Ordnok, did you yourself kill any human children?
Ordnok: Some see Ordnok as Citizen.
Ordnok: No!
Ordnok: *looks defensive*
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Elf children?
Ordnok: Dat made Ordnok leave tribe. Dat gross.
Ordnok: No children.
Ordnok: Dat not good
Willa of the Yew-Wood: No crunching bones?
King Blackthorn: Well, you are a sapient being, so I am happy to have you as one of my citizens.
Ordnok: Dat..
Ordnok: *looks at the King*
King Blackthorn: *smiles*
Ordnok: Dat good!
Ordnok: *looks intensely relieved*
Ordnok: *attempts a human bow*
King Blackthorn: *nods regally*
Ordnok: Ordnok thank.
Tanda: Welcome Ordnok
Ordnok: Much thank
Ordnok: *looks at chair*
King Blackthorn: *smiles*
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Indeed Welcome Ordnok
Ordnok: *chair creeks under weight*
Dr Jerred DeSule: Thank you, your majesty.
King Blackthorn: Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention, Dr DeSule.
Dr Jerred DeSule: *nods*
King Blackthorn: Are there any other new issues to be addressed this evening?
Ordnok: *shifts uncomfortably in the tiny chair*
Please choose your destination.
King Blackthorn: Then on the happy note of welcoming a new citizen, we shall end this meeting
Tanda: Blessed Be Your Majesty
King Blackthorn: Thank you to all the governors present for a very productive Council meeting.
Willa of the Yew-Wood: Until next time dear
Willa of the Yew-Wood: I'll miss you.
King Blackthorn: My thanks as well to all the citizens who had the civic spirit to attend.
King Blackthorn: Now we shall adjourn. Goodnight.
