Tanieran of Dracona

Post by UniversalBlue » Mon Jun 25, 2012 2:38 am

Name: Tanieran of Dracona

Age: Unknown

Height: 5’9

Race: Possibly Dragothan

Physical Description: The finely tailored robes dyed the color of the Azure One’s scales cover dented and battle-scarred armor that might once have been covered with intricate black and silver web-like designs. Belted at her side is an ancient, battered sword sheath that remains empty. On her back is slung a finely crafted bow covered in the runes of a long-dead language.

Her pale skin is smooth, and her complexion youthful, yet the many scars and callouses on her hands and wrists hint of years spent on the battlefield and the weathered tell-tale creases around her almond-shaped eyes speak of many winters long behind her. Her lavender eyes contain silver, whirling pupils, and her long white hair cannot hide the ears that point a slight more than the common elf.

Her movements are decisive and controlled, her left hand occasionally reaching for the sword that is no longer there.

History: (The following excerpts are from posts made on the old Tomes of Sosaria boards and other writings from the years 2003-2007. Some of this is public knowledge, some of it isn’t. If you’re not certain if your character would know, please contact me, and let me know how you are looking up information on Tanieran. If you weren’t around then, assume your character would have to do research.)

(From 2003 or 2004)
“She looked over her shoulder afraid they would be watching her. They—the humans that infested the city -- were always staring and pointing at her. She snarled as she saw one staring and he looked quickly away.

She turned back to the sandstone wall in front of her and brushed a matted tangle of her white hair out of her face. She touched the wall again with hands covered in dirt and grime and the wall stayed solid. She felt her moment of lucidity slipping away and the voices began to chatter in her head.
Or were they in her head?

No, they were the voices of people speaking but she could not make out their words. Languages were spinning in her head and nothing made sense…”

(About a year later.)
"She stood breathing heavily, staring at the ruins of the room around her. No amount of anger could cover the emotional torrent raging inside of her. She had spent the past hour demolishing her room with the Temple of Nexchronosis, and no matter what vase she shattered or table she hacked to bits, the torrent would not subside. She let the obsidian axe drop from her hands and then slowly followed it to the floor, dropping to her knees.

Where was the peace that Nexchronosis had granted her?

She stayed on her knees rocking back and forth for a while. The tumult still raged and would not subside. She felt trapped again, as trapped as before, so many years ago.

She scrambled forward on her hands and knees and threw back the covers of the bed. She reached beneath it, pushing aside pieces of shattered crockery and broken wood furniture, finally withdrawing a long bundle wrapped in a tattered black fur cloak made from the hide of Dire wolves. From beneath the tattered dire fur cloak she pulled an old rusty broad sword, its blade chipped and broken.

She held the blade up to the small sliver of moonlight that washed down through the high window of her room and stared at the mottled and distorted image of her face that reflected from the neglected blade. She felt as trapped as she did in the lair of the Deceiver all those years ago, sitting in a corner of the windowless stone fortress, hacking and scraping at the wall with this very blade, desperate to be free. She dropped the sword to the floor and stood up; she would not allow that to happen again.”

(A couple of years later.)
“Valeryx don’t do this!” It was her voice, shouting at someone. She felt cool stone beneath her feet and the wall of the Sanctuary was at her back. Sanctuary benches were scattered helter skelter – some because she had used them as weapons, some because he had kicked them out of the way. But he completed his mystical chant and slammed the scepter known as the Hand of the Dragons onto the center of the arcane circle and blue light exploded upwards through the sanctuary with a concussion of sound…
