Log of the High Council Meeting on 10/20/14

Post by Lord DaKaren » Mon Oct 20, 2014 5:44 pm

Log of the 446th Session of the High Council of Britannia.

DaKaren: Welcome to the 446th session of the High Council of Britannia.
DaKaren: While the realm is not currently under mortal threat, there have been several curious occurrences.
DaKaren: First, the citizens of Skara Brae are no longer under siege by ghosts, as the circumstances which precipitated it have been resolved.
DaKaren: However, Second... *frowns and sighs*
DaKaren: Captain Riley has been ousted as the city's governor.
DaKaren: Rumor has it that since former-governor Neptune's estate was seized, Riley has been busied himself carting off what were loosely described as 'weapons.'
DaKaren: I have also heard that the gold claimed as 'back taxes' went missing when Riley fled the city.
Martyna Z'muir: *gasps with feigned shock*
DaKaren: Since this is likely to become an Article XIII issue, I would like anyone with information to speak with Chief Justicar von Bayer.
DaKaren: Third, a circus has set up tents just northeast of Vesper.
DaKaren: Unfortunately, this circus seems comprised of angry and mischievous spirits bent on...something.
DaKaren: *shrugs slightly*
DaKaren: While not our usual existential or apocalyptic threat, I am sure that Councilor Aornis would like the matter resolved.
DaKaren: Fourth, an expedition in Malas has apparently unearthed a tomb hidden in Doom.
DaKaren: The archaeologists are soliciting adventurer's aid in securing various artifacts and whatnot.
DaKaren: It would be prudent to keep an eye on their activities.
DaKaren: As history has shown, meddlers and mysterious crypts rarely turn out well.
DaKaren: Grand Marshal Polynikes, would you please brief the Council on military matters in the Kingdom?
Polynikes of Yew: We have had a relatively quiet interval since the last session.
Polynikes of Yew: Unfortunately there have been two incidents in the last few days.
Polynikes of Yew: First if you are traveling the road south out of Yew cemetery there have been
Polynikes of Yew: reports of a pack of raptors attacking travelers.
DaKaren: *arches a brow*
DaKaren: Raptors?
Polynikes of Yew: So all travelers should be careful.
DaKaren: In Britannia?
Malag aste: *quirks a brow*
Polynikes of Yew: I will arrange patrols to find their lair.
Dot Warner: They're getting smarter!
Malag aste: Perhaps some captive breeding program gone awry.
Polynikes of Yew: More seriously, I have just been informed that our BAF base on
Polynikes of Yew: Dragon Island was attacked last night. by persons unknown.
Malag aste: *frowns*
Malag aste: Any damages?
Polynikes of Yew: The care taker and sentry were killed and the facility looted and damaged badly.
DaKaren: Any clues left behind?
Polynikes of Yew: All weapons and cannon ammunition stored were either stolen or lost in the fire.
Polynikes of Yew: I have no specific information as to who was responsible but will be calling for help in
Polynikes of Yew: the net few days from all members of the BAF.
Polynikes of Yew: That is all I have to report at this time.
Polynikes of Yew: Are there any questions?
Malag aste: Sir
Polynikes of Yew: Yes?
Malag aste: Would you be needing guards or supplies shipped to the outpost?
Polynikes of Yew: Yes.
Malag aste: I hope you intend to rebuild the fortress no?
Malag aste: Good.
Malag aste: *looks to Kivlov*
Guntur Kivlov: *looks back*
Polynikes of Yew: At this time we will focus on finding out who is responsible and running more frequent patrols by
Malag aste: We should send word to Newcastle and see what supplies we might send.
Guntur Kivlov: I shall do that Malag.
Polynikes of Yew: I will let the all members of the BAF know once we determine what is needed.
Malag aste: *nods*
Malag aste: The loss of our Investigator is felt again.
DaKaren: *frowns*
Polynikes of Yew: *nods*
Polynikes of Yew: any other questions?
DaKaren: Looks to be a no.
Polynikes of Yew: Thank you
DaKaren: Thank you, Grand Marshal.
DaKaren: Councilor Kivlov, does the Township of Newcastle have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Guntur Kivlov: *Ahem*
Guntur Kivlov: Newcastle will do what it can to aid in men and supplies.
Guntur Kivlov: I would like to apologize for my absence last meeting, and i am sad to hear of our
Guntur Kivlov: dear investigator.
Malag aste: It is indeed a great loss to the kingdom.
Guntur Kivlov: *nods*
Guntur Kivlov: As for Newcastle itself, we fare well. Without problems at the moment.
Guntur Kivlov: I am perhaps concerned of the circus in Vesper, I will have to investigate it soon.
Guntur Kivlov: I hope none of the "circus folk" or spirits cause us any trouble.
Guntur Kivlov: That is all I have Chancellor.
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Councilor Aegnor, does the city of Moonglow have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Farimer Tensus: *gasps*
Farimer Tensus: *whispers to John*
Farimer Tensus: there are bloody human ears on the floor!
Silrien Aegnor: Moonglow has been quiet. We had a good turnout at our meeting this past Saturday.
John: *looks quizzically at Farimer as he listens vaguely*
Goldie: *slaps Farimer*
John: *looks back at the ears and nods*
Farimer Tensus: *begins to tear up*
Silrien Aegnor: Other than that, all is well. That is all.
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Some decorum from the gallery, please.
Farimer Tensus: a rock and a hard place... again
DaKaren: Councilor Aornis, does the city of Vesper have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Aornis: Yes
Aornis: A ghostly circus has insinuated itself in Vesper
Aornis: The members of this circus have been attempting to conscript citizens into service
Aornis: I am working closely with the Royal Guard to get rid of them
Aornis: That is all.
Farimer Tensus: *nudges John*
Farimer Tensus: to your right soldier
John: *looking quizzically, again, at Farimer*
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
Captain Obvious: *thought I heard something*
DaKaren: Councilor Warner, does the City of Britain have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
John: *looking quizzically again, and nodding, with his head half turned*
Dot Warner: Aye. Thank you.
Dot Warner: Britain continues to fare extremely well.
Dot Warner: Although we did have an incident a few days ago near A Girl's Best Friend.
Farimer Tensus: *tastes ears*
Farimer Tensus: *spits*
Dot Warner: Something about a giant jack in the box menacing travelers, but it was easily dispatched.
Farimer Tensus: they’re from Yew
Dot Warner: Vesper's circus people seem to have wandered a bit far.
Dot Warner: I've been told that something happened in Cove earlier today, but have yet to be informed of what that something is.
Dot Warner: Director Ashburn of the Red Ankh Society is still working with the Hamlet, but setting up a meeting has been difficult. *frowns slightly*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Dot Warner: Don't forget that next month, Friday the 14th at 8pm, is the King's Cup Tournament.
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Dot Warner: That is all, thank you.
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Adjutant Knighthawke, does the city of Minoc have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
John: *deftly and quietly slipping past the others*
John: *and slowly and deftly walking towards the podium*
John: What you likely heard of in Cove, Councilor and Governor Warner,
John: was the ghost clown attack. It also hit Vesper and Minoc.
John: They appear to be gone now, thankfully.
Dot Warner: Hmm.
John: Minoc's trade is brisk. We have several new citizens in recent days.
John: There will be a celebration for the Bordermarch miners from Minoc,
John: and their comrades in mining and the trades,
John: this Saturday, at 9pm Central, 10pm Eastern, following
John: the meeting of the Royal Council.
John: Partly sponsored by Minoc.
John: And I believe that is all I have, Chancellor.
DaKaren: Thank you, Adjutant.
John: *quietly, deftly, slowly slips back to his seat*
John: *with a shy expression*
DaKaren: Councilor Jameison, does the city of Jhelom have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Thom Jameison: Thank you Chancellor
Thom Jameison: Jhelom is doing well. Trade is very brisk I am glad to report.
Thom Jameison: We have rescheduled the pirate hunt to this coming Wed. night at 8 pm under central skies.
Thom Jameison: I hope to have a good turn out to help sweep the seas around our fair island clean
Thom Jameison: of pirate vermin.
Thom Jameison: I am looking forward to paying out many bounties.
Thom Jameison: A shame the King does frown on collecting heads.
Thom Jameison: anyway
DaKaren: *arches a brow*
Thom Jameison: I must also report a recent incident.
Thom Jameison: Late yesterday a Jhelom ship was attacked and scuttled in the harbor of the city
Thom Jameison: of Skara Brae.
DaKaren: Do you know who the attacker was?
Thom Jameison: I received word of the incident from the Captain of a ship who stopped in Jhelom.
Thom Jameison: I have dispatched a ship to render aid and evaluate the possibility of salvage .
Thom Jameison: The ship in question is blocking the dock in Skara Brae.
Captain Obvious: *eight against me I give you 50/50 odds* better than I give anyone who attacks a Jhelom ship
Captain Obvious: on my watch
Thom Jameison: To oversee this operation I have dispatched a ship and troops to provide security.
DaKaren: *sighs*
Thom Jameison: I have received a dispatch from Captain Jameison that there is a rumor that the current
Captain Obvious: 60/40?
Thom Jameison: political situation in the city is unclear.
DaKaren: I suggest keeping your troops aboard their ship...lest things become any more murky.
Thom Jameison: I this point my troops are in the city merely to help with the salvage of the scuttled
Thom Jameison: merchant ship .
DaKaren: *sighs*
Thom Jameison: Grand Marshal Polynikes we will render any aid needed for your facility on Dragon Island.
Malag aste: *narrows eyes*
Thom Jameison: We can also provide additional ship patrols in the area.
Thom Jameison: That is all I have to report at this time.
DaKaren: Please don't create a second Article XIII situation.
[Alliance][Malag aste]: I don't know if the considered it would cost him his title.
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Thom Jameison: *raises an eyebrow*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Thom Jameison: Can you rephrase that in a language that someone other than a bleeding lawyer understands?
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
DaKaren: I mean try not to cause a diplomatic incident in Skara Brae.
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Thom Jameison: *nods*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
Thom Jameison: Agreed.
DaKaren: I'm sure their emotions are frayed enough as it is.
Malag aste: Would be unwise of you to attempt to further friction between Jhelom and Skara Brae.
Polynikes of Yew: *frowns*
Thom Jameison: *smirks*
Farimer Tensus: *hic*
DaKaren: I really don't want to have to seek the removal and prosecution of two councilors...
Thom Jameison: *smiles innocently*
Thom Jameison: of course we wouldn’t.
DaKaren: Anything further, Councilor?
Thom Jameison: Not at this time.
DaKaren: *nods*
DaKaren: Thank you.
DaKaren: Minister Hla-ate, do you have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Malag aste: I do trust everyone to be observing the virtues as we begin to head into the long winter months ahead.
Malag aste: Thinking of how we can be using them to give to those in need.
Malag aste: Donating to those who could use our help if not in gold or armaments in food and advice.
Malag aste: And if any of you may have noted there are chairs in the city of Luna to help those in need.
Malag aste: I do encourage all to be looking for folk who are lost and could use the help of someone with knowledge of the lands
Malag aste: So I will encourage folk to give your time this season to help folk.
Malag aste: Remember Sacrifice is a Virtue.
Malag aste: That is all I had for now.
DaKaren: Thank you, Minister.
DaKaren: Minister Todie, do you have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Earlhad Todie: Thank you Chancellor, I would like to Introduce Goldie, she is a Merchant in Magincia
Earlhad Todie: she has a concern to address this council
DaKaren: *nods*
Goldie: Good evening
DaKaren: Good eve.
Goldie: I have a friend Cobweb who has been viciously attacked
DaKaren: Oh?
Earlhad Todie: excuse me Chancellor, I am going to my office to stay neutral on this matter
DaKaren: *arches a brow*
DaKaren: Very well...
DaKaren: *looks at the woman*
DaKaren: Please, do go on.
Goldie: let me bring her in to tell her story
Cobweb: good evening
Cobweb: I was attached in Occlo recently
DaKaren: Occlo?
Cobweb: I suspect Captain Jameson is directly involved
Thom Jameison: *frowns*
Cobweb: He wants to eliminate all the competition
Cobweb: and become his own monopoly of Pirating
DaKaren: *looks back to the Councilor*
Cobweb: I am a merchant of some disrepute
DaKaren: *tilts his head slightly at Cobweb*
Cobweb: but I serve a market that is ignored
Thom Jameison: *shrugs twirls finger around on ear and points at speaker in white*
Malag aste: *flashes Thom an evil glare*
Cobweb: Plus I should mention that I was unarmed when attacked
Cobweb: Most travelers in the land of Felucca leave me be,
Cobweb: as they say don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Silrien Aegnor: *Looks thoughtful*
DaKaren: While being attacked is most distressing, this Council has no authority in Felucca.
Cobweb: I am offering a reward of 10 Million Gold for the elimination from the towns of
Cobweb: Occlo and Magincia of these bandits
DaKaren: Although if Captain Jameison is indeed involved, his activities in Trammel might bear more scrutiny.
Cobweb: They should go back to Buc's Den with the other scoundrels
Thom Jameison: this is outrageous!
Thom Jameison: slandering a good man's reputation with no proof?
Malag aste: This is quite a charge.... have you proof?
Thom Jameison: Do we have a description?
Dot Warner: If there was proof, it wouldn't be slander.
Cobweb: My Lord, I live in Magincia on the Felucca Border side, so I would not know of any Trammel activity
Captain Obvious: fish in a barrel who travels unarmed in fel
Farimer Tensus: Aye a man’s name is at stake!
Cobweb: I will try to gather some witnesses and record the attacker’s names next time
DaKaren: That would be helpful...
Cobweb: I believe One of them started with a D, but I will keep better records
DaKaren: Though, again, I am unsure what this Council could accomplish in a land in which we have no jurisdiction.
Malag aste: Might I caution you though... we do tend to frown on folk bringing heads to our tables.
Cobweb: Thank you all for the time to speak tonight
Martyna Z'muir: She could report him to Minax...
DaKaren: *sighs*
Polynikes of Yew: outrageous
DaKaren: Welcome back, Minister. Anything further?
Earlhad Todie: Thank you for letting my acquaintances speak
DaKaren: *nods*
Earlhad Todie: I have nothing else to report on my end
DaKaren: Thank you. Minister.
DaKaren: Do any of the citizenry have anything to bring before the High Council this eve?
Polynikes of Yew: *raises hand*
DaKaren: Grand Marshal?
Polynikes of Yew: Thank you
Polynikes of Yew: I would ask for a couple of members of the BAF to accompany me to the BAF base
Polynikes of Yew: as well as it might be wise for a few of us to check on Skara Brae
Polynikes of Yew: That is all I have at this time
DaKaren: *nods*
DaKaren: A prudent move.
DaKaren: Anyone else?
Captain Obvious: tipsy Tensus over there thinks he can take me
DaKaren: *arches a brow*
Thom Jameison: *motions to Captain Obvious*
Thom Jameison: stay calm now
Thom Jameison: *smiles* we are all friends
DaKaren: Perhaps you might consider the creation of a drunk tank, Grand Marshal? I'm sure our inebriated guests might benefit from some quiet time.
Farimer Tensus: *spits*
Thom Jameison: drinks on me
DaKaren: *looks at the two men in the back of the gallery*
Farimer Tensus: I wish to speak!
DaKaren: *sighs*
DaKaren: Very well.
Goldie: *rolls eyes*
Captain Obvious: this should be riveting
Farimer Tensus: I wish a clarification of the rules for this great house
Martyna Z'muir: *whispers: "Try not to slur too much"*
Farimer Tensus: This is an open forum I do appreciate this and so do other citizens...
Farimer Tensus: but I fear....
DaKaren: *arches a brow*
Farimer Tensus: I fear that my conduct may go against come ancient rule
Farimer Tensus: that is not spoken
Farimer Tensus: May I not drink in this house good Lords!
Farimer Tensus: May I not?
Farimer Tensus: *coughs*
Polynikes of Yew: drunk as a lord he is
Farimer Tensus: *coughs*
DaKaren: Drinking during a Council session is indeed frowned upon.
Farimer Tensus: May I not clap in this room?
Farimer Tensus: understood this is clear to me now...
DaKaren: When appropriate
Farimer Tensus: aye understood
Malag aste: *sighs*
Farimer Tensus: I think
Martyna Z'muir: *whispers: "He means no clapping like a drunken seal"*
Farimer Tensus: and this is just my opinion...
Captain Obvious: I see no issue with it as long as his clothes stay on
Farimer Tensus: that the conduct of the citizens in this chamber should be tolerated no matter how foul
Farimer Tensus: as long as it does not result in violence
DaKaren: Not going to happen.
Farimer Tensus: now
Farimer Tensus: I wish to address the reason of my drinking
Farimer Tensus: I was taken aback by the human ears found under my pew
Farimer Tensus: I brought it to the attention of the soldier over there, a smelly lad, and nothing was done of it
Guntur Kivlov: Ears?
DaKaren: The dreaded D-word is the unwritten rule.
Farimer Tensus: who speaks to this
Farimer Tensus: I wish to know of which body they came from
Farimer Tensus: I must say
Farimer Tensus: I had a taste
Farimer Tensus: hence the drink
Farimer Tensus: and they were from Yew
Farimer Tensus: I can confirm
Farimer Tensus: *swallows deeply*
Farimer Tensus: so
Farimer Tensus: who can speak to this?
Captain Obvious: sounds like you have tasted ears from many regions?
DaKaren: *sighs wearily*
Farimer Tensus: aye captain
Farimer Tensus: I have been in many wars
Captain Obvious: and yet mine are still intact
Farimer Tensus: I have fought amongst the finest soldiers
Farimer Tensus: much like your mother has spent the night with them
DaKaren: I might point out, Mister Tensus, that you have been inebriated in these chambers on several prior occasions.
Farimer Tensus: *clears throat*
Farimer Tensus: I beg your pardon
Martyna Z'muir: Several? Try *all* occasions.
Farimer Tensus: The carnage brought back memories I do apologize
Farimer Tensus: my medicine
Farimer Tensus: ...
Polynikes of Yew: I will gladly investigate the owner of these ears if I can
Farimer Tensus: You can't take away my medicine
Dot Warner: *snorts*
Farimer Tensus: thank you!
Farimer Tensus: a response
Farimer Tensus: I am pleased
Polynikes of Yew: hold our friend here in a cell for 24 hours as a material witness.
Captain Obvious: might want to use a sextant in that search
Farimer Tensus: I yield to the floor
Martyna Z'muir: Because you're falling face-first onto it?
DaKaren: *sighs*
Farimer Tensus: *spits*
Farimer Tensus: *frowns at council*
DaKaren: Anyone else?
Farimer Tensus: * mumbles*
DaKaren: No?
Farimer Tensus: I fought hard to return to these lands
Farimer Tensus: I believe a snake wishes to speak...
DaKaren: Do you have something to say, Captain?
Captain Obvious: yes
Captain Obvious: I do if that is ok
DaKaren: Please...
Captain Obvious: I came tonight to see what would be done of the Jhelom ship attacked today
Captain Obvious: I hope that you all are taking seriously
DaKaren: The Grand Marshal is sending investigators.
Farimer Tensus: Here here!
Captain Obvious: as I will not stand by and do nothing if it happens again
Goldie: *slaps Farimer again*
Farimer Tensus: *whispers to Goldie*
DaKaren: However, since the perpetrators are unknown, there is little to immediately do.
Farimer Tensus: I will hold you if you’re scared
Farimer Tensus: *Nods at the Obvious*
DaKaren: Ships may of course defend themselves.
Thom Jameison: The good Captain id just concerned for his fellow sailors
Farimer Tensus: aye
DaKaren: And that is a grand sentiment.
DaKaren: Anyone or anything else?
DaKaren: Nay? Grand.
DaKaren: I hereby adjourn the 446th session of the High Council of Britannia.
DaKaren: Go with the Virtues.
